There are a couple of boxes that you will want to consciously pack and take them in your car yourself. If you can't take them with you personally, make sure they are loaded LAST so you receive them first. Label them "Open First". In these boxes, you will pack essential items that you will need in the first 24 hours in your new home. The contents of these boxes may vary for the individual so I encourage to make a list a head of time of what you will want and need on hand the moment you've entered your new home.
Never ever pack valuables. Keep money, jewelry and bonds with you or arrange for a courier service to transport them.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
For each person: a change of clothes, towel, prescriptions, toothbrush & toiletries
food, snacks, beverages, coffee
eating utensils, mugs
toilet paper soap, beverages, coffee
liquid hand soap, hand sanitizer
first aid kit including lots of band aids
liquid hand soap
toilet paper
trash bags
light bulbs
flashlight
tool kit
pen and paper
address book, contact information, health cards etc.
local phone directory
a set of sheets, blankets and pillows for each bed
I recommend that you make up each bed as soon as the beds arrive in your new home. You really don't want to wait until the end of the day when you're exhausted which leads me to this very special but essential care package...
It's been a hectic, busy and exhausting day but try to make a point of celebrating your new home and the next chapter of your lives.
I'm here for YOU.
I'm here for YOU.
~Ciao
